At last, a sensible move...Racing Victoria has announced a six-month trial of Wednesday acceptances for Saturday race meetings from early next year. Acceptances for 12 Group I races are completed on Wednesdays, but acceptances for all other Saturday meetings currently close at 9am on Thursdays. Following talks with the Australian Trainers' Association, bookies and the racing media, trainers will have until 9am on Wednesday to declare their runners for Saturday meetings.
