Apprentice jockey Winona Costin has been suspended after stewards deemed her to have intentionally carried another jockey and horse off the track in a set of Kembla Grange barrier trials on July 31, reports Racenet.

Costin was aboard Numbers when she said words to the effect of "I will run you off the track” to jockey Heather Poland, who was riding Nothing Like A Robin, when the pair reached the 600-metre mark of the heat.

Costin then "improperly allowed her mount to shift out carrying Nothing Like A Robin out towards the outside rail” forcing Poland to restrain her mount to avoid further interference. Evidence was taken from both hoops as well as fellow jockeys Jon Grisedale, Scott Pollard and Roly Saxton.

Stewards outed Costin for three weeks with the jockey due to commence her suspension on September 20. She will be free to ride again on October 11. Stewards also advised Costin and Poland their conduct at trackwork will be closely monitored.
