Well, did Typhoon Tracy have a virus or not? That's the big question after her puzzling and disappointing performance in the Doncaster. She was a shadow of her normal self. She finished 14th in what surely must be one of the very worst performances by a favorite in the Doncaster. A veterinary examination showed she had been galloped on and trainer Peter Moody told stewards there had been a virus in his stable. He had, he said, checked the mare's blood on Friday and it was fine. He now will have further tests carried out.

Isn't it surprising that news of the virus in the Peter Moody stable was not reported to the stewards? And if it was, why no mention was made of it to the punting public? It will bge interesting to see how the blame game develops as the washup rolls in to Typhoon Tracy's woeful Doncaster run.

Here's the official report from the stewards: When questioned regarding the performance of Typhoon Tracy, L Nolen stated that his mount raced very flat. Trainer Mr P Moody stated that, whilst he has had a viral complaint in his stable, he had taken blood from Typhoon Tracy yesterday and there was nothing amiss. A post race veterinary examination of Typhoon Tracy revealed the mare had been galloped on the near hind fetlock. Mr Moody undertook to report to the Stewards the results of a further veterinary check.

Import Savarain copped a battering when 3rd at Caulfield, and now he's out on an injury-enforced spell. Connections told stewards the gelding sustained an injury to the near fore tendon and would be sent for a spell.
