It says all I want to say about it too, except that I did acknowledge my bet was a risk and that I accepted that risk factor to get the 33/1. A bad decision by the club, hard to understand, but it happens.
One thing you may not know. Virtually every year something is scratched late. Why are there 24 and no reserves? Because the TAB equipment cannot cater for more than 24 numbers! Draw your own conclusions about that.
OK, now for the BIG race. I'll post something tomorrow afternoon. Not tips, just thoughts closer to the time of the race. I may have a look at the odds around 6pm, and see how the relative TABs are stacking up. My credentials? Probably like yours, up and down in this race. Past winners? Polo Prince, Light Fingers, then later on What a Nuisance, Tawriffic,Subzero, Doriemus, Saintly, Rogan Josh, Brew, Makybe Diva (2005). But that spans 44 years, so it brings things down to earth. In some of those years I could not get my bets down to one and backed two or three, even four... it's a race where the odds will favour us, but in the final analysis for us punters it's just a race.
