RANGIRANGDOO will be given the chance to break his Group One hoodoo in the Ranvet Stakes this Saturday, setting up a return bout with Theseo at Rosehill, reports the Sydney Daily Telegraph.

It says: Trainer Chris Waller had planned to tackle the George Ryder Stakes with Rangirangdoo, who has gone down by the barest of margins in two Group One features, en route to the Doncaster Mile but revealed a switch in tactics with his promising galloper.

"The George Ryder is going to be a very, very strong race and I am going to have Danleigh there," he said. "I was going to stretch Rangi out to 2000m at the end of his campaign but I thought why not have a shot at it now, he's ready to run 2000m. With the Australian Cup put back a week, it's probably going to be a smaller field than expected, and that has played a big part."

Rangirangdoo was all the rage to win his maiden Group One in the Chipping Norton Stakes last start and looked to have the race won before going down to the tough-as-nails Theseo in a thrilling finish. Waller is preparing to remove the blinkers from Rangirangdoo in the Ranvet in a bid to help him settle but believes the Gai Waterhouse-trained Theseo is the horse to beat.
