Sacred Elixir’s Barrier 1 draw hasn’t stopped punters from backing it to win the Victoria Derby, firming from $3.20 to $2.80 with TAB.
While over 40% of the market has been on the Gelding, there has also been some support for Swear who has firmed from $10 into $8.50.
“The Derby has looked wide open over the course of the last month, but as the race gets closer punters are really rallying towards favourite Sacred Elixir who has been backed from $3.20 into $2.80,” said TAB’s Nick Quinn.
In other Group 1 betting news:
· Extreme Choice is now the outright favourite for the Coolmore Stakes, firming from $3.50 to $3.20. Astern has drifted from $3.50 to $3.80.
· First Seal continues to dominate Myer Classic betting, with over 30% of the market on the $4.20 favourite.
· Wicklow Brave is the best backed outsider to win the Melbourne Cup, with TAB taking a $4,000 each way bet today at odds of $16/ $4.25. Hartnell remains the best backed and favourite at $4.20.
