Punters see the Rock as awesome in Underwood

Punters have quickly targeted Awesome Rock for the Underwood Stakes. TAB reports that 60% of all early bets has been on Awesome Rock ($8.00).

The winner of the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes opened at $9.00 but the weight of money has seen the horse firm into $8.00, with slight support for Black Heart Bart, Lucia Valentina, He Or She and Tarzino.

Black Heart Bart heads the betting for the Group 1 race at $3.20.

“Black Hart Bart returned from a spell with a dominant win in the Memsie, and while he was far from disgraced when running second to stablemate Palentino in the Makybe Diva Stakes, I am sure we will learn much more about him after Saturday," TAB’s Nick Quinn said.

The early support in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes has been for the Ciaron Maher trained Bon Anrum on the back of a dominant win at Flemington last start.

"He has always had a touch of class after contesting the Group 1 Australian Guineas last campaign, but looks to have come back bigger and better and the stable is firing," Quinn said.

Bon Anrum has been backed from $7 into $6.50 and now sits on the third line of betting behind joint favourite's Counterattack and Voodoo Lad.
