Precedence is top of betting for Saturday’s Group 2 Zipping Classic at Caulfield after Sertorius drifted in the market, says leading bookmakers Betstar.

The pair were installed as equal favourites at $3.80, but Sertorius has since eased in betting out to $4.20.

“Early betting has been quite disappointing in the Zipping Classic, presumably on the back of a potentially wet track,” Betstar's Alan Eskander told PPD. "With the rail out six meters and Caulfield not having been raced on for quite some time, it will be interesting to see if there is any sort of bias.

“In saying that, Precedence has been popular at the $3.80 and retains favouritism in the Zipping Classic...Sertorius and Precedence were installed as equal favourites but the punters haven’t warmed to Sertorius and in turn he has eased in the market.

“Queenstown has also drifted out to $5 from $4.80, while there has been a little money around for Midsummer Sun who has firmed from $9 into $8. Meantime, Paximadia is the one the punters want in the Sandown Guineas firming from $3.50 to $3.20 favourite.

"Best Case has firmed from $6 into $5.50, while the Anthony Freedman-trained Outlandish has been specked at odds shortening from $15 into $11. All other runners in the race have been drifters, in a market where punters have been more active than the Zipping Classic.

“I’d expect more late money to come for Paximadia on race day, and in turn start a clear favourite. Equator has eased slightly from $4.40 out to $4.60 with Apollo’s Choice easing to $4.80."
