ALLAN Sharrock is happy to gamble the Australasian fillies are better than their male counterparts heading into tomorrow's Queensland Derby, where the New Zealand trainer will start Shez Sinsational, reports Craig Young in the Sydney Morning Herald and Age.

His report states: Connections of the filly, who was third in last week's Oaks, parted with $27,500 in late-entry fees to gain a start in the final three-year-old classic of the season. Shez Sinsational finished strongly behind the impressive Kiwi filly Scarlett Lady in the Oaks, and while she will not clash with that filly tomorrow, she instead takes on Scarlett Lady's stablemate Shootoff, who is the warm favourite for the Derby.

''She has done everything right and you don't get many opportunities at home to run for half-a-million dollars in prizemoney,'' Sharrock said yesterday. ''She picked up $40,000 last weekend so we've decided to give it a send-around. If anything she has improved with the run last week. She blew after the run and the feed bin told us she'd pulled up well after the Oaks.'' (www.smh.com.au)
