PETER Moody has five pre-post favourites at tomorrow's Memsie Stakes meeting at Caulfield but no matter what his tally reads afterwards, the Australian debut of Kiwi mare King's Rose could ultimately prove the most noteworthy, reports The Age.

It says: The state's champion trainer already has the reigning Caulfield Cup favourite, Lights Of Heaven, but King's Rose could stake her claim for a race like the Cox Plate if she can improve on her autumn performances in New Zealand, where she won at group 1 level.

Moody said yesterday he was unsure what to expect of King's Rose in the Memsie Stakes (1400 metres), as she had been in his care for only three months. But he believed she had the look of a 2000-metre horse, rather than an out-and-out stayer, as she tired noticeably when favourite - and seventh - in the New Zealand Oaks.

''She seems a nice filly, had plenty of racing, had a long preparation last time,'' he said. ''There is a fair bit of quality about her. She has had a nice preparation for the Memsie, but Saturday is a learning curve for me to see where she sits in the food chain.'' (www.theage.com.au).
