The form from January's Magic Millions 3YO Trophy came to the fore again at Doomben when Princess Qualo swept home to win the Ambassador Travel QTIS Handicap (1200m). Trained from Eagle Farm by Robert Heathcote, Princess Qualo came with a beautifully timed run under Larry Cassidy to get home in an all Magic Millions finish.

Heathcote said the filly was risked by a number of people on the wet track, but he was confident she could perform well and said after the race he needed to visit the bookmakers.

"Everyone thought she wouldn't handle the track," Heathcote said. "And if you have a look at her form they are right...But in her first start on a wet track she hurt herself and then she went down to the Gold Coast the other day and it was not a good track...We were confident she would run well and she has - so it's no surprise to us."

Heathcote said the filly would race in a similar event at her next start.

"She did a good job and beat a pretty good field today. She's done the job well...We'll go on and find another nice race for her around the 1200 (metres)."

Princess Qualo ($18) got home in a competitive finish to beat the heavily backed Purettan ($5.50) by a half neck. Another three parts of a length back in third place was the Shovhog filly Startling Pleasure ($21).
