MAX Dynamite has emerged as the punters' pick for the Melbourne Cup following today’s news that Mongolian Khan is a non-runner.
The six year old stayer has been the second best backed horse in the last 24 hours, firming from $14 to $13 with TAB on Thursday morning.
“It’s no surprise to see support coming for Max Dynamite considering he won by nearly five lengths in the Lonsdale Cup last start over the Melbourne Cup distance of 3200 metres,” said TAB’s Nick Quinn.
Fame Game’s chances have also improved with the Caulfield Cup winner no longer a threat, in from $3.80 to $3.60 with the favourite receiving more than 20% of all bets.
“Fame Game may be a Japanese horse but he will be a national hero in Australia if he can go on to win the Melbourne Cup,” said Quinn.
Preferment has also proven popular with punters, firming in from $12 to $10 today.
