Linda Meech is a big fan of the adage "have saddle will travel" and with that in mind, the jockey, who is on the crest of a winning wave, heads to Adelaide on Saturday, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

It adds: Meech, 28, is winding up her best season and she makes no secret that top Caulfield trainer Peter Moody has gone a long way to making it possible.

"Peter Moody has been absolutely fantastic to me, very loyal," Meech said this week while reflecting on a season that has already netted her 103 wins in Victoria alone, right up there with city premiership contender Craig Williams.

Meech was apprenticed in Victoria to Moody and the Stawell-based Terry O'Sullivan but given "I don't normally stay in the one place too long", she ended up in Sydney for a four-year stint during which she rode at the provincials for leading trainer Gai Waterhouse. This time last year Meech decided to return to Victoria and has not looked back since.

"To ride 103 winners in Victoria has been very good, great, in fact," Meech said. "But, given I did my apprenticeship in Victoria, I did already have plenty of contacts when I came back here. The same people who supported me before have stuck by me and we've been having plenty of luck together. I can't complain." Upon her return to Melbourne, Meech said she gave Moody a call.
