LEADING jockey Kerrin McEvoy has signed up Victorian legal heavyweight Cliff Panham in a bid to have a one-month riding ban lifted, but first he has a big weekend of riding on which to concentrate, reports The Age.

Its report adds: Darley's retained jockey has a quality book of rides at Hawkesbury's stand-alone Saturday meeting, and group 1 prizes await the global racing operation in Adelaide on Sunday. McEvoy rides the Peter Snowden-trained Kidnapped in the South Australian Derby and Falaise in the Goodwood Handicap.

Three-year-old Khas Kura, in the guineas, heads up a solid book at Hawkesbury. ''He had an interrupted run last time over 1400 metres at Randwick,'' McEvoy said. ''He is in good shape and the guineas looks a nice race for him.''

McEvoy picked up the ride on Kettledrum in the Rowley Mile, and he is looking forward to linking with Pinwheel in the Sweepstakes Handicap.

''He trialled real well at Canterbury the other day,'' McEvoy said.

Snowden has sent Pinwheel to the races on seven occasions, and the son of Lonhro has won four and been runner-up in three. ''He goes into the race in good order and did win first-up last prep,'' McEvoy said. McEvoy takes over from Josh Parr on Renaissance in the Darley Crown. The mare beat the jockey's favoured mount Beaded in the Sapphire Classic at Randwick last start. Parr goes on to the stablemate Serenissima.

McEvoy sticks with trainer Chris Waller's last-start Gosford winner Beijing Boy in the Richmond Club Handicap. ''He [Beijing Boy] only just won last start but he needs the pace on,'' McEvoy said. ''There was no pace the other day, he was outsprinted and he was doing his best work at the finish. It was a better run then it looked.''
