GROUP 1 stars Joseph Pride and Tye Angland will combine at Gosford on Wednesday in a bid to snare another feature-race victory as the racing season draws to a close, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

It says: Pride enjoyed a great Sydney autumn carnival when securing the Doncaster Mile and George Ryder Stakes with improved galloper Vision And Power while Angland rode his first group 1 winner when scoring on Black Piranha in the Stradbroke Handicap.

Angland will ride Pride's last-start winner Hadaaf in Wednesday's $100,000 Takeover Target Stakes with the trainer not concerned about the gelding carrying 58kg on an expected heavy track. "I was surprised at the way they scaled the weights really," he said. "I thought he'd get more weight than the 58kg even though it's a listed race. He had 62.5kg, less the 3kg claim for my apprentice Chantelle Johnson, when he won the prelude. Yet he drops in weight. Not that I'm complaining."

Pride said Angland had enjoyed plenty of success on Hadaaf, a winner of 13 of its 58 starts. "Tye won on him in the early days. He's won a few on the horse, they seem to be a good combination," he said. "And he is riding in great form. He has always been a very good jockey but he is coming of age even more so lately."

Pride proved to be Angland's nemesis when Vision And Power relegated Black Piranha to second in both the George Ryder and Doncaster but now he will be happy for the jockey to be first past the post.
