GUY Walter is looking to the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups with Zanbagh, now a runner-up in the VRC and ATC Oaks.
Walter said if Zanbagh made the same improvement mentally and physically from spring to autumn to the upcoming spring she would be well-placed.
“We’d love to think she’s a Caulfield, Melbourne Cup horse. I think she might be a very good stayer,” Walter said.
“She had showed she has stamina and she showed she is brilliant enough to win a race like the Keith Nolen.”
Walter said Zanbagh had proved she could race the anti-clockwise direction, but the concern he had in the spring is if the mare had done enough to warrant a weight that would ensure she gained a start in the Cups.
“Probably having not won those Oaks she is not a certainty of getting a run,” Walter said
“But, we’re very happy with Zanbagh, Streama (fourth behind Diamond Drille in the Queen Of The Turf) ran a nice race and Toydini (sixth behind **H*It’s A Dundeel** in the Queend Elizabeth) ran well.”
Walter said while Zanbagh and Toydini would definitely go for a spell it is undecided what will happen withStreama.
One option is to take her to Brisbane while another is to retire her.
