When a trainer sends out a horse to win a race at Townsville in far north Queensland he's not thinking he's going to be competing against a $700,000 Inglis Easter yearling by Redoute's Choice, reports Tara Madgwick at Breednet.com.au

She says: Ex-Gai Waterhouse trained stayer Common Objective is a new addition to racing in that part of the world and after a mid-field finish in the Rockhampton Cup at the end of June made amends quickly with a facile three and half length win in a Class Six Plate over 1630 metres on Tuesday.

Bred by Gooree Stud and consigned to Inglis Easter by Widden Stud, Common Objective proved a more than handy stayer in Sydney winning five races and more than $200,000 in prizemoney, but was recently on-sold from the Waterhouse stable to clients of astute local trainer Roy Chillemi. A son of champion sire Redoute's Choice (pictured), Common Objective wasn't the only blue-blood to win at the meeting with Red Ransom (USA) four year-old Glengyle a $620,000 purchase for John O'Shea from the Newhaven draft at the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

A winner for O'Shea at Kembla, Glengyle has won two of four starts since heading north. Townsville racing might be a long way from the big smoke of Sydney, but for the smart punter it's not hard to find a winner.
