Chris Munce produced a magnificent rails ride on Yallingup who scored impressively for trainer Guy Walter in the Group Three Frank Packer Plate at Randwick.

Walter was elated with the performance from the More Than Ready gelding who defeated stablemate and $2.90 favourite Orca by 1-1/4 lengths with Merenksy Reef a long head third in the 2000 metre race.

Yallingup, who started at $5, pinched a good lead on straightening and had the race in his keeping at the 200 metres.

Orca was fractious in the gates and jockey Hugh Bowman was forced to momentarily jump off his mount who was taken out of the barriers for about a minute before being reloaded.

"He's (Yallingup) been an improving young horse and he'll get even better after that run," Walter said.

"I was concered about him running the trip but credit goes to Chris Munce who rode him very well.

"Unfortunately it wasn't the best day for Orca but being a colt we may think about taking him to Brisbane still."

Walter is eyeing off the Queensland Derby in June with Orca.

But the Warwick Farm trainer said Yallingup would be spelled.

"This is his first campaign and he's been up for a while," Walter said.

Munce was impressed with Yallingup.

"He didn't show much early on but he's really developed into a lovely stayer," Munce said.

"He had a nice run all the way and in the end the petrol we saved helped him, he had too much for them in the finish."

The David Hayes-trained All American started the $4 second favourite and was travelling second behind Rollins for the best part of the trip but faded to run fifth.
