Plans to take on So You Think in the Cox Plate with reigning Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy have been abandoned, with her owners deciding to reserve her for mares' races.

Trainer Peter Moody on Friday morning advised Racing Victoria stewards that Typhoon Tracy would bypass the $3 million weight-for-age 2040m feature at Moonee Valley on Saturday week.

A shot at back-to-back victories in the Group One Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Derby Day is the most likely option for the five-time Group One winner.

Last year the daughter of Red Ransom won the Myer Classic by 4-3/4 lengths from Lady Lynette.

"All is well with the horse. The owners have just decided to bypass the Cox Plate and reserve her for mares' races," Moody said of the five-year-old.

The Bart Cummings-trained So You Think, last year's winner, dominates Cox Plate betting as $1.65 favourite with TAB Sportsbet ahead of The Gai Waterhouse-trained Toorak Handicap winner More Joyous at $6.
