So You Think and Shoot Out were officially taken out of the $2.5 million Caulfield Cup on Tuesday, with both to concentrate on the $3 million Cox Plate.

The two outstanding four-year-olds join imported galloper Black Mamba as the only withdrawals among the top 35 ranked horses for the Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 16.

So You Think and Shoot Out feature in the 49 second acceptors for Australia's weight-for-age championship, the Cox Plate (2040m), to be run a week later at Moonee Valley.

Both horses remain in the entries for the $6 million Melbourne Cup (3200m) for which second declarations will be taken on October 5.

Seven internationals remain among the 71 second acceptors for the Caulfield Cup. They are Tokai Trick (Japan), Mr Medici (Hong Kong), Americain (France), Manighar (UK), Drunken Sailor (UK), Becqu Adoree (UK) and French stayer Laristan.

Laristan, who arrives on Saturday, will join the David Hayes stable.

Macau's Horse of the Year Luen Yat Forever, who is currently in quarantine at the Werribee International Horse Centre, is the sole international entrant in the Cox Plate with recently imported UK galloper I'm Imposing not among the second acceptors.

Dual Group One winners Faint Perfume and Heart Of Dreams are notable omissions from the Cox Plate.

The Bart Cummings stable is concentrating on the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups with Faint Perfume while the Mick Price-trained Heart Of Dreams is out for the spring after jarring up when unplaced in Saturday's Underwood Stakes won by the Cummings star So You Think.

Rock Kingdom, who was unplaced in last year's Cox Plate, Sniper's Bullet, Alcopop, Moudre and three-year-old Toorak Toff are all out of the Cox Plate.

While the highly-rated Toorak Toff is out, the connections of a trio of three-year-olds have kept their Cox Plate dream alive.

Group One-winning filly Yosei is joined by Group Three placegetter Intencion and maiden colt Originate among the second acceptors.
