Cox Plate winner So You Think will not race until next spring after failing to live up to expectations in a jumpout at Flemington on Friday.

The Bart Cummings stable had been preparing the High Chaparral colt for the Group One Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 6 and he was to resume in the Autumn Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday week.

However the three-year-old will now be spelled.

"He didn't trial to our satisfaction at Flemington this morning," Duncan Ramage, bloodstock manager for the colt's owner Dato Tan Chin Nam, said.

"He's a horse who has extreme levels of ability and he gives that to you all the time.

"There's no point second guessing. Bart's always preached patience so we'll wear it on the chin and he won't race in the autumn and we'll have him back in the spring at his best.

"We're going to look after the horse. We could send him to the races but if he's not at the top of his game why risk him?

"He's had a hard spring, nearly run three track records. He's had a hard run in the Emirates, so there's no point punishing him when you know the result.

"We'll bypass what could have been a lucrative autumn for him and come back for the spring."

So You Think led all the way for a dominant win over Manhattan Rain, Zipping and El Segundo in the Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 24 and was spelled after finishing second to All American in the Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on November 7.

So You Think had been $5.50 second pick in the Australian Guineas market with TAB Sportsbet before betting was suspended on Friday afternoon.

In latest markets, Denman has firmed from $2.50 to $2 favouritism with Manhattan Rain at $9.50, Set For Fame at $10 with Kidnapped next best at $15.
