Sepoy was an even shorter favourite for the $3.5 million Golden Slipper after the shock defeat of Karuta Queen in Sunday's Black Opal Stakes at Canberra.

Karuta Queen has long been the second favourite for the Golden Slipper on April 2 but drifted from $5.50 to $11 after running second to You're Canny.

Sepoy was firmed to $2 by TAB Sportsbet on Sunday after being $2.50 prior to the Black Opal.

A decision on whether Sepoy starts in the Todman Stakes will be made after he works on Tuesday.

Trainer Peter Snowden said the unbeaten colt would be given a searching gallop to determine whether he lined up in Saturday's Group Two race at Rosehill on Saturday, two weeks before the $3.5 million Golden Slipper (1200m).

"He will work on Tuesday and then I'll decide after that whether he runs on Saturday or gallops between races," Snowden said.

"It's a big decision to make and we have to get it right."

The colt has won all four of his starts so far, the latest a comprehensive thrashing of his opponents in the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield on February 26.

He was given a few easy days at Sheikh Mohammed's new farm at Agnes Banks near Sydney after that performance which further enhanced his prospects for the world's richest race for two-year-olds.

The Clarry Conners-trained Satin Shoes was given a workout between races at Warwick Farm on Saturday with year-older stablemate Georgette Silk.

Satin Shoes is now the second favourite for the Slipper at $7.50 with Conners looking for a fifth win in the race.

The filly will run in Saturday's Group Two Reisling Stakes aiming to keep her unbeaten record intact.

The most recent of her three starts on February 26 brought victory in the Silver Slipper.
