Trainer Mark Kavanagh has called a halt to stable star Shocking's autumn campaign, saying he won't race again until the spring.

The 2009 Melbourne Cup winner pulled up "a bit jarry and scratchy" after his impressive victory over Linton and Playing God in the Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington last Saturday.

Kavanagh said the Street Cry five-year-old wasn't right to run in Saturday's Group One Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill and therefore would also miss the Group One The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill two weeks later.

"It's nothing serious but if we are kind to him he'll be kind to us," Kavanagh said.

Shocking had been second pick in The BMW betting at $7 with TAB Sportsbet behind the $3.20 favourite Maluckyday with Caulfield Cup winner Descarado at $9.
