Chris Munce has been fined $3,000 for breaching the whip rules on Daffodil in the Caulfield Cup.

He was one of three jockeys fined for whip infringements in the $2.5 million race with Cup winning rider Brad Rawiller fined $500 and Corey Brown $250 on third placegetter Vigor.

Munce pleaded guilty to hitting Daffodil in a forehand manner 16 times prior to the 100 metres, eight of them consecutively.

Under the amended rules, in force since September 26, jockeys can hit their mounts in a forehand manner on only five occasions non-consecutively before the 100m.

Munce was fined $1500 on each of two the charges.

He told stewards that Daffodil, who ran fourth, was responding to the whip.

"She was going to be right in the finish, that's my only reason."

Munce had had four other whip infringements since the amended rules came in, a two day suspension, a $500 fine and a couple of reprimands.

Rawiller, who hit Viewed on five consecutive occasions in a forehand manner before the 100m, was fined $500 for what was a first offence, while Brown was fined $250 for a second offence for hitting Vigor twice on two consecutive occasions before the 100m.
