Shane Fliedner is hoping that the home ground advantage will help his two runners Sparks Alight and Sparks Burn at the Bendigo stand-alone metropolitan-class meeting on Saturday.

Sparks Alight will be ridden by Jacob Rule in the $90,000 Catanach's Jewellers Gold Bracelet (1400m), while younger half-brother Sparks Burn will be handled by Nick Hall in the $90,000 Bendigo Bank Guineas (1400m).

"It all helps and they both race well here on their home track," Fliedner said of the pair who are both half-relations to Listed Morphettville Guineas winner Sparks Fly and Group Three-placed El Spark, being from multiple Melbourne winner Dual Spark.

Sparks Alight, a four-year-old mare by Rakti, is a last-start first-up Moonee Valley 1200m rating 0-78 fillies and mares winner over Iridescente and Browneyedhawk on March 2.

She has raced seven times on her home track for three wins and has yet to finish out of a place there.

Sparks Alight drew well in barrier five, while Sparks Burn has to contend with gate 14 of 16.

A three-year-old by Niello, Sparks Burn also has a good record at Bendigo where he has raced three times for two wins and a second.

Last start the gelding won a rating 0-62 over 1400m in slow going on his home track on March 4.

"They have both been set for these races. They are both worth good money and both horses have got their ratings up which allowed them to get runs," Fliedner said.

"They won't be right in the market but they both look genuine chances."

Fliedner praised the Bendigo track as the Bendigo Jockey Club prepares for the historic meeting.

"It is nearly the best track in Victoria as far as the surface goes," he said.

Sparks Alight is at $10 in the Gold Bracelet with TAB Sportsbet which has Princess Narine $4.80 favourite ahead of I'm Discreet ($6) and Fashion and Two Hills at $8.

Sparks Burn is at $16 in the Bendigo Guineas in which Caulfield Guineas placegetter Huegill and Sandown Guineas winner So Swift are equal favourites at $6 ahead of The New Boy and Shanghai Warrior at $8.
