A field of 16 will face the starter in the Group One $500,000 Kingston Town Classic at Perth's Ascot racetrack on Saturday.

The weight-for-age contest, run over 1800 metres, will feature a return clash between Railway Stakes placegetters Gilded Venom, Sniper's Bullet and Annenkov.

Under the conditions of the race, Railway runner-up Sniper's Bullet will meet Gilded Venom on 3kg better terms for being beaten a short head.

In the case of most Perth feature races during this year's summer carnival, the Kingston Town Classic has attracted a strong interstate representation.

Eastern states gallopers make up half of the field with the David Hayes-trained Niconero sharing favouritism with Gilded Venom at $5.

Niconero ran an eye-catching race in the Railway Stakes, coming from 12th on the turn to finish less than two lengths from Gilded Venom.

Trainer Fred Kersley has accepted with Marasco and Grand Nirvana.

Marasco will be having his third run in as many weeks after being down the track in the Railway Stakes before finishing third to Takeover Target over 1200 metres in the Winterbottom Stakes on Saturday.

Stablemate Grand Nirvana is the only three-year-old to accept.

The Kingston Town Classic barrier draw will be held on Wednesday.
