NEW Zealand champion It’s A Dundeel will take another step on his changed route to the Cox Plate with an exhibition gallop at Caulfield next Wednesday during the Thousand Guineas program.

Trainer Murray Baker hopes the trip to the races coupled with a workout at the ‘breakfast with the best’ at Moonee Valley next Tuesday will help progress It’s A Dundeel after he missed the Caulfield Stakes with a hoof abscess.

“We hoping a couple of stimulated race day experiences is going to help him a bit,” Baker said.

Baker said It’s A Dundeel had done a bit of three-quarter pace work over 1200 metres last Saturday at Flemington.

“He seemed as good as gold and he’s been to the beach today (Sunday)and everything seems okay,” Baker said.

Baker acknowledged that missing the Caulfield Stakes was a “bad set back”,  but added that given It’s A Dundeel was such an athletic horse it may compensate for missing two days work. (racingnetwork).
