LLOYD Williams has strengthened his Melbourne Cup stocks with the purchase of UK stayer Amralah, reports Racing Network.

Williams has confirmed that Amralah, formerly trained by Mick Channon, would arrive with the first shipment of international horses at Werribee on September 27.

He noted that Amralah, a last start winner of the Group 3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes, would likely have his first start for him in the Geelong Cup.

Amralah, which won the Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (2100m) on August 9 at Haydock, defeating Hillstar, also reportedly purchased by Australian interests, is a five-year-old by Teofilo.

At his previous start he won a Listed Race over 2000 metres at Newbury.

Amralah will join Williams’ team of 12 horses entered for the Melbourne Cup.

Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner will resume in Saturday’s Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington along with 2012 Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon.

Team Williams will also run Masked Marvel in a 2000 metre race.
