He then experienced a short let-up prior to turning up at Trentham where he comfortably dealt with a special conditions line-up to win nicely. A poor effort over 1600m at Te Rapa was followed by an excellent performance back at 1400m on a slow New Plymouth surface. Rider Cameron Lammas had him travelling on the pace before hitting the front at the 500m and winning unopposed by 1.5 lengths.
