This gelding was odds-on favourite to take out an R65 event at Te Rapa on July 28 following a mightily impressive maiden success at his previous start. The son of Captain Rio let his supporters down when finishing second, but he certainly wasn't disgraced in any way and will return to the winner's circle in the near future. The chestnut ran second on debut and then led all the way next up at Te Rapa when completely dominating his rivals with a 12.5 length victory. It was hardly surprising then that he was the punters' elect at his third start and only succumbed to Torino in the latter stages who was having his first start in NZ after arriving from across the Tasman.
