It was Jim Cassidy again with Pierro's win in the Canterbury 1300m. 'The Pumper' reckons Pierro is the best he's ever ridden...even better than Might & Power. The match race between Pierro and More Joyous lived up to its billing - More Joyous toiling into 2nd. Cassidy says: 'Look, I've ridden some great horses over the years but I've haven't ridden one better than Pierro...This colt is a freak, an absolute champion, and he will win any race Gai wants to run him in...I don't like using the word freely but he is every bit a champion.'
