Trainer Tony Vasil has confirmed a Magic Millions campaign for The Bowler, who’ll resume in Melbourne at the end of the month, reports Racing Network. The Bowler will have the one start before contesting the $500,000 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas at the Gold Coast on January 11.

Initially, Vasil planned to run The Bowler in Sydney on route to the Gold Coast, but after working him the clockwise direction at Caulfield decided to remain at home until closer to the race.

“I’ve worked him right handed numerous times and he’s adapted,” Vasil said. “I worked him on the inside grass because it is the tightest track so it is the hardest test for them. If they can get around that you know they’re fine. If I ran him in Sydney I’d have to be away for three weeks, but now I’ll run him at Moonee Valley on the Saturday after Christmas. That will top him off for the Millions.”

The Bowler contested two Group 2 races during the spring – the Danehill and Bill Stutt before finishing fifth in a Benchmark race at Caulfield on Thousand Guineas day.

He was beaten in a photo by Honey’s Steel Gold in the Listed Gibson Carmichael Stakes (1600 m) at Flemington on Anzac Day this year.
