Just what IS going on with this drawn-out Danny Nikolic case? Understandably, the jockey claims his entire career is under threat with his name dragged through the mud with sinister insinuations - but no charges. The Age reports: 'Nikolic's frustration over the ongoing investigation into 10 of his rides reached fever pitch as tempers flared in a heated verbal exchange with two officials (at Sandown Lakeside on Wednesday). Nikolic has reached his wits end as the increasingly drawn-out saga that surrounds the investigation into a string of his rides heads towards its latest chapter and he prepared to front stewards again next Friday. The investigation into 10 Nikolic rides began 14 weeks ago after Betfair alerted RVL stewards to a number of betting anomalies related to beaten Nikolic mounts. The trainers of the 10 horses, Nikolic and a number of his associates have been quizzed during that time. Former bookmaker Neville Clements has been warned off Victorian racetracks after electing not to co-operate with the investigation.

Fourteen weeks and still not completed? What is this investigation all about and when can Danny Nikolic, and the racing industry, and punters, expect an outcome? If the inquiry finds nothing on which to lay charges, Nikolic may have a strong case for enormous financial compensation. His reputation has been badly stained.
