Tasmanian favoriteThe Cleaner will return to Melbourne and run in the Emirates Stakes on the final day of the Flemington carnival.

Trainer Mick Burles has been pleased with the condition of his popular horse since his fighting ninth, beaten only a little over three lengths in the Cox Plate.

"The horse has come through the Cox Plate brilliantly so it is onwards and upwards to the Emirates Stakes on Saturday week,” Burles said.

“He ate up every oat in his feed bin after the Cox Plate and he’s done the same at every feed since and I had my vet run his hands over the horse today and he gave him a glowing report."

The Emirates Stakes is worth $1 million and is run under quality handicap conditions over 1600m.
