Big trouble...Takeover Target underwent surgery after finishing unplaced in the Darley July Cup, according to British media reports. UK website Racingpost.com is reporting Takeover Target, who finished seventh, cracked a cannon bone in his near hind leg. "He is undergoing surgery on Friday evening at the Newmarket Veterinary Hospital," the website said. Racingpost.com reported trainer Joe Janiak and jockey Jay Ford were too distressed to talk. Takeover Target raced in the lead before fading out from the furlong as top filly Fleeting Spirit (12/1) survived a protest to claim the Group I. Scenic Blast, backed from 7/4 to 11/8, couldn't reproduce his King's Stand form and finished a well-beaten 10th. Jockey Steven Arnold rode Scenic Blast in a similar to his King's Stand triumph but the sprinter's acceleration was missing during the uphill run to the finish. "It was completely out of character," Arnold said of the run. "I travelled well for the first three furlongs but I was soon in trouble."
