Good sense...Victoria's Racing & Appeals Disciplinary Board did the right thing in suspending $4,000 of the $5,000 fine it imposed on trainer David Londregan for his 'cut off their heads' comments during the recent jumps crisis. Londregan, who isn't the richest trainer around, and who has a couple of kids under 2 and only 6 horses in his stable, says he's sorry for the comments. He apologised for causing a lot of "hoo-ha". DL had threatened to cut off the heads of his horses and deliver them to Racing Minister Rob Hines if jumps racing was axed.
Vincent O'Brien, the greatest trainer in British racing history, has died at his Straffan, Country Kildare, home. He was 92. O'Brien trained 16 British classic winners and 27 Irish classic winners. He won most of Europe's major flat races, including six English Derbys.
