Mike Moroney confesses he's been staggered by the relentless improvement of his Caloundra Cup winner Shenzhou Steeds. The popular trainer is now starting to rethink his plans for the stayer. SS streaked away with the Caloundra Cup on Sat - making his rivals look absolutely second-rate. Moroney says: ''The way he won that race I haven't completely closed the door on the spring with him. It's certainly given me a bit to think about, so I'll mull it over in the next few days before I make a final decision.'' What's been on his mind so far is for SS to have a crack at the $150,000 Grafton Cup (2350 metres) on July 12. It's still a tempting morsel, but if he won that race then the handicapper will be 'after him' when weights are compiled for the spring Cups. And what weight will he get for the Grafton Cup after his scintillating victory with 58kgs at the Sunshine Coast?

Another offshoot from the Caloundra Cup...Trainer Shaun Dwyer is leaning to the Grafton Cup as the next start for runner-up Anudjawun, instead of backing up in Sat's Queen's Cup at Eagle Farm. He says: 'My gut feeling is the Grafton Cup might be a better option with the 12 days between runs.'

What's the betting Chris Munce will be a star at the spring carnival in Melbourne? He's very likely to be there given that his close mate Kelso Wood will be campaigning two smart types there - Sizzling and Belltone. Munce can be expected to pick up a swag of good rides in Melbourne. The popular rider notched his 100th winner for the season on Belltone at the Sunshine Coast. It's the first time any jockey has achieved that target in Queensland. CM says: 'It means a lot to me to win this race for Kelso. We've had a lot of luck together and done a lot of hard work through the year.'
