The UK's No 1 trainer 'grouch' Mark Johnston is heading our way again for the Melbourne Cup, and he's already saying he doesn't like the race! The last time he was in Melbourne for the Cup, Johnston was constantly grizzling about one thing or the other. He can't resist the temptation, though, to have a crack at the big money on offer so it looks like we'll be seeing his smart stayer Jukebox Jury running in the Cup. JJ dead-heated with Duncan in last Sat's Irish St Leger. Johnston's wife Deirdre says: 'He's come out of Saturday's race in great form. I spoke to Mark and the plan is to run in Australia; the owner is very keen. It's exciting. He's got a lot going for him...He's a great traveller, very laidback and he's a Group 1 winner at a mile and a half and a mile and six, so he's versatile trip-wise.' Jukebox Jury is a seasoned traveller. Apart from his victory at the Curragh, he numbers a Group 1 at Cologne and a Group 2 at Deauville among his nine wins. In the latest betting market, Betstar has him as a 20/1 chance.
