Track manager Jason Kerr says: 'They are predicting 40 millilitres and if we get that, then the track for Saturday is going to be heavy...Hopefully we don't get that much, but even if we do, we've got a good cover of grass and with a rain-free Friday the track should be in reasonable condition.'

It's all bad at Randwick...Record rain and damage done to Sydney racetracks have forced the AJC to give up on holding a meeting at the track on Tuesday week. It is looking for a provincial venue at which to stage the meeting. The Randwick track came under fire this week with critics branding it shocking and disgraceful. Racing NSW chief steward Ray Murrihy warns that the Sydney spring carnival will be held on what he calls 'damaged tracks.'

What's Richard Freyer's plans for Leica Larrikin now that he's ruled him out of the spring Cups this year? He says: 'At this stage I don't really think he's looking for a staying trip and the Emirates 1600m is going to be our goal with him...In between all that, he'll probably go to the Epsom in Sydney. I think we'll stick to anything up to the mile for the moment until he shows us he can't be competitive..Why rush him out to two miles before he's ready to do it? We don't want to bottom him out by going for the big Cups this year.'
