Profound Beauty is not certain to run in the Melbourne Cup...That's the main news from the UK on Tuesday. Even though the Dermot Weld trained mare ran well in the Irish St Leger the speculation is that she'll miss Melbourne because of the likelihood of firm ground. Stan Cosgrove, Moyglare Stud manager, says: 'She's perfect and it was a grand performance on that ground, which was very testing. The Melbourne Cup is under consideration but we've not made a final decision. She has to go into quarantine on September 23 and Pat Smullen has already said he can ride her but the problem might be the ground. If it's rock hard it will be pointless running her as they don't water out there - that could be a big problem for her.'

The first Friday night meeting will be on Friday, Sep 24. The 'associate' meeting will be at Moonee Valley, featuring the Grp 1 Manikato Stks.
