News from Saturday...The 2007 Caulfield Cup winner Master O'Reilly's Yalumba performance pleased trainer Danny O'Brien. He's convinced the Master is on track for his second Caulfield Cup attack next Saturday. Pat Hyland's mare Zarita had the run of the race but was one of the first beaten and she is now unlikely to press on to the Cox Plate and instead be aimed at something weaker.

Bjorn Baker, co-trainer of last year's Caulfield Cup runner-up Nom Du Jeu, was disappointed by the stayer's ordinary run. He over-raced and beat only one home. BB says: 'He didn't really settle and maybe the track might have been a touch firm for him but it wasn't what we wanted to see two weeks out from the Cox Plate...If we can get some rain then that will be on his side.'

Trainer Mark Kavanagh couldn't have been happier with Whobegotyou's powerful Yalumba victory. He says: 'That was good. Damien rode him well and he finished it off just as you would have wanted him to. He's on track.''
