A Lot for a Little?

Or a little for a lot... the ordinary punter always has this challenge in front of him/her.

Do you bet, say, $100, and hope confidently to make $20 on the day, and over the year a handsome 20%, or do you spread that $100 over a series of high risk exotic bets in the hope of striking it rich?

One win on a First Four might pay several thousand dollars and pay for your entire year's activities, Win the Big Six and you can take that world cruise, or put your retirement forward. For overseas readers, let me tell you that the Big Six has paid massive dividends (even over a million dollars).

Maybe you split the outlay into risky and safety bets.

Many of my colleagues feel that's probably the way for the ordinary punter.

Hey! What's this "ordinary punter" stuff ?, you might reasonably ask.

I just mean the person who works all week on another job and is trying to make a dollar. And probably using a service or two, and a smart system or three, to boost the chances.

Think about what percentages you'd allocate for the RISKY and the SAFETY bets.

Give it some very serious consideration this weekend.

We'll take it up after the racing's over, and maybe throw some light on your money allocation.

By the way, there's racing in Toowoomba on Saturday July 11. It's on a new "cushion" track. They often have twilight meetings at Toowoomba. This is one, lights and all.

It's a very beautiful city, full of gardens. A glorious place to holiday, with the gateway to the south west of Queensland at your fingertips.

BUT the meeting on Saturday will have a host of horses that have never been there and never seen the kind of track they'll be confronted with.

Imagine this: NOT ONE HORSE ON THE ENTIRE PROGRAM has run on the track!

Draw your own conclusions on whether I'll have a bet there.

And whether I'd advise you to...
