Troy Corstens admits winning the Queensland Derby tomorrow with his first Group 1 runner as a trainer would be a “dream come true”.

Corstens has the progressive Pinstripe Lane lining up in the Group 1 $500,000 2400-metre Classic, and he’s well aware what an amazing start to his training career a win would provide.

“Yes, he’s my first Group 1 runner and I’m well aware how important it is,” Corstens told Racing Network today. “To win the race would be a dream come true, no doubt about that,” he added.

Pinstripe Lane will have the luxury of champion rider Damien Oliver on board and Corstens says the horse is right at his top.

“He was unlucky last time and charged home when he got clear.

"He’s done really well since and going into the race I don’t think I could have him any better,” he added.

Pinstripe Lane is drawn in gate nine and in the latest fixed-odds markets is assessed the equal favourite at $4.80 along with Vilanova and Elusive Runner.
