Trainer Mick Price plans on rolling the dice with his progressive galloper Dany The Fox, reports Racing Victoria.

An impressive winner of yesterday's $200,000 Kilmore Cup (1600m), Dany The Fox will now press-on to the $1 million Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on March 9.

OTI Racing's Terry Henderson this morning told racingnetwork Price was keen to take the next step with the horse.

"Mick says he has taken every step asked of him and he probably deserves his chance at the Group 1 now," Henderson said.

"It will be quite a challenge for him - that's raising the bar a long way in a short time," Henderson added.

He said the Doncaster Mile was probably too far away, "and he's never raced that way before so the Australian Cup looks the right option".

Dany The Fox enjoyed a nice run in yesterday's Kilmore Cup just off the speed, and when rider Glen Boss got an inside run in the straight, he charged through the gap to win running away by 1.8 lengths from Wall Street and Cosmic Causeway.

"His rating has come through this morning at 97, so that means we can pretty much go wherever we want, certainly in handicap races anyway," Henderson said.

Dany The Fox has now won four of his past five starts and more than $250,000 in stakes.
