AFTER a superb Cox Plate performance, New Zealand's best thoroughbred, Jimmy Choux, returns for another shot at Australian group 1 glory in tomorrow's Emirates Stakes at Flemington, reports Craig Young in The Age/SMH.

His report adds: Beaten by a dream rails-hugging ride by Craig Williams on Pinker Pinker, the Kiwi team had to settle for second in the Cox Plate and the four-year-old returns to handicap conditions in what is shaping as an intriguing contest. An explosive winner of the Rosehill Guineas in autumn, following a New Zealand Derby victory, Jimmy Choux has 58 kilograms at Flemington and, unlike Black Caviar, isn't scaring off rivals. A full field of 16 awaits.

''I would have loved it to be held under the weight-for-age scale but if he is going to Hong Kong, this is a nice race for him,'' trainer John Bary said yesterday. ''We've just got to cop it. I still maintain he is a sprinter-miler and we've done everyone a favour...They've jammed the weights down. We'll just ride him in the pack, ride for a bit of luck, have one crack at them and hope our horse's nose is in front on the finishing line.''

Jimmy Choux returned from the Cox Plate with ''a bit of bark off his back leg'' but Bary described it ''as superficial, minuscule - you won't even see it on Saturday''.
''He pulled up well. I'm very happy with him. He had a nice hitout on Tuesday and is ready to rumble on Saturday.''

Due to the depth in the $1 million Emirates, Jimmy Choux is favourite with TAB Sportsbet at $5.50, ahead of fellow Cox Plate runners King's Rose ($6.50) and Secret Admirer ($7), while group 1 maiden Love Conquers All is $9.
