The Racing NSW Handicapping Panel has released weights for the 2010 $600,000 Group 1-Coolmore Classic run at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday (20th March).
The weights for all other races will be released early this afternoon. There are four races with extended nominations that close at 11am this morning.
Handicappers, in releasing the weights, have allocated Typhoon Tracy the maximum 61kg under the conditions of the race.
The panel considered that Typhoon Tracy is the winner of four Group One races in the past 12 months, including last year's Coolmore Classic as a three-year-old.
Her recent form is umblemished with wins in the Group 1-Fillies & Mares Myer Classic by 4¥ lengths (the last time she raced solely against her own sex), the Group 1-C F Orr Stakes by 1¥ lens and the Group 1-Futurity Stakes by 2¥ lens. The last two Group One wins being against all ages and sex.
It is important to note that the minimum weight in this year's race has risen to from 51kg to 52kg, effectively compressing the scale of the handicap.
Last year the top weighted mare was Hot Danish who had not won a Group 1 race and was alloted 8kg above the minimum. This year Typhoon Tracy is the maximum 9kg above the minimum with a far superior race record.
Typhoon Tracy's weight is 4.5kg in excess of Allez Wonder (56.5kg) who has only won one Group 1 race; last year's Toorak Handicap on the limit weight of 52kg.
