Blake Shinn has landed the Cox Plate ride on the well-fancied Fiorente, replacing the suspended Damien Oliver.

Oliver fell foul of the stewards at Caulfield on Wednesday, copping a suspension for careless riding.

Shinn secured the ride over a swag of top jockeys, including Gai Waterhouse's stable jockey Tommy Berry. The booking is only for one ride with Oliver returning to ride Fiorente in the Melbourne Cup.

Fiorente is the equal second pick in pre-post Cox Plate markets at $5.50. Last year’s Melbourne Cup runner-up worked impressively at Moonee Valley on Thursday morning with Oliver in the saddle.

He won the Group II Feehan Stakes (1600m) at the track two runs back before a solid finishing fourth in the Group I Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington last time out.
