SPRINTING sensation Starspangledbanner has made such an impact on English racing that the three-year old is now unlikely to return to Australia for the forthcoming breeding season, reports The Age.

It says: Having won the Caulfield Guineas and Oakleigh Plate before leaving for England, Starspangledbanner then brought off a stunning victory in the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot last month.

So emphatic was the colt's success that master Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien is convinced he could be a sprinter of rare quality.

Coolmore Stud will not commit to cancelling Starspangledbanner's return to Australia until after Friday's July Cup at Newmarket, but another victory would virtually ensure he stays on in England.

''I think that Aidan and Johnny (Murtagh) are of genuine belief that Starspangledbanner has the ability to achieve great things,'' Coolmore's Australian business and racing manager, Tom Magnier, said. ''Obviously [Starspangledbanner] will need to be at his very best again Friday, but Aidan ... feels that he may well have improved again since Ascot, which is a very exciting proposition indeed.''
