A winning treble at the final Victorian meeting of the season at Mildura has taken trainer Darren Weir's season tally of winners in Australia to 449.

Trainer Darren Weir's record-breaking season has fallen one win shy of an astonishing 450 wins after he landed a winning treble at the final meeting in Victoria at Mildura.

Weir smashed his own Australian record of 348 winners set last season with his tally for 2016/17 including a record 137 metropolitan winners in Melbourne.

The 2016/17 season drew to a close on Monday with Harry Coffey piloting the Weir-trained Pharja, Bonus D'Oro and Crafty Devil to their wins at Mildura.
