Hugh Bowman has ridden the first two winners on the Canterbury program to extend his lead in the Sydney premiership.

Hugh Bowman has won the first two races at Canterbury to extend his lead in the Sydney jockeys' premiership to 2-1/2.

His rival Brenton Avdulla's mounts in the first three races on Wednesday were scratched leaving Bowman with the advantage.

Bowman won the first race on the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Brave Song and claimed the second on country horse Nictock for Cameron Crockett.
